Why Choose a Fridge Freezer Frost Free?  
  
If you choose to go with an appliance that is frost-free it will eliminate the need to defrost it - saving you time and effort. They also have more storage space than those without this feature.

If you do still find yourself with an accumulation of ice, the appliance will typically undergo an automatic defrost process.  
  
The primary benefit of having a frost free freezer is the fact that you do not have to defrost it. This can be a time-consuming and laborious process which can take up to 24 hours every time. A freezer that is frost-free will allow you to store more food since ice won't take up space.  
  
Another advantage of a frost-free freezer is that it will have a higher energy efficiency than refrigerators that use a traditional defrost system which means you'll save money on your electricity bills. If you are required to defrost your fridge freezer, this is usually because it has accumulated an excessive amount of ice. This is because the frozen ice hampers the refrigeration system's ability to effectively cool the freezer.  
  
This is usually caused by the thermostat being defective and does not regulate the temperature in a proper manner. The freezer could be shut or opened often, allowing humidity to get into the freezer. To avoid this, it is best to wait until food is cold before putting it in the freezer. They are there to let air circulate. Crumbs, paper and twist ties can get sucked into this area, which can cause the fan to stop.  
  
If your freezer smells of food that has gone bad, you may need to use activated charcoal in an open container in the freezer for several days to reduce or eliminate the smell. This kind of charcoal can be found at supermarkets in the section for cleaning.  
  
It's a good idea to cover the floor of your freezer with old towels or cloths prior to the time you put back your frozen food. This will keep melting ice from taking up too much moisture. Also, make sure to clean your freezer drawers, bins and ice trays before placing them back into the freezer.
